Southern wines within the walls of the ancient village of San Nicandro Garganico
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Heritage Wine Fest is a traveling food and wine event designed to tell the story of Southern Italy through its wine and the places that preserve its history. Each stop is conceived as a sensory and cultural journey that combines tastings, producers, and architectural heritage. In San Nicandro Garganico, a town on the Gargano promontory in the province of Foggia, the event takes place in the Borgo Antico, a medieval Castrum whose origins date back to the early 11th century.
For one night, the narrow streets and squares of the historic center are filled with tasting counters: oenologists and sommeliers guide the public in discovering labels from various regions of the South and Central-North, with a strong focus on Puglian grape varieties. Alongside the wine glasses, there are food corners with local gastronomic specialties, while guided tours of the historic center and live music complete the convivial atmosphere of the evening.
The formula includes free entry to the village, allowing visitors to enjoy a stroll through the illuminated alleys, while tastings are reserved for those who purchase the dedicated ticket. The wine tour is guided by sommeliers from the main industry associations, who share the story of each wine and its territory of origin with visitors.
Overlooking the lakes of Lesina and Varano and not far from the coast and the Foresta Umbra, San Nicandro Garganico is one of the towns in the Gargano that preserves an ancient heart made of stone houses, churches, and medieval glimpses. Heritage Wine Fest leverages this identity: wine becomes the key to rediscovering a village, its history, and the food and wine tradition of northern Puglia. The event is part of a wider circuit that touches various villages and castles between Puglia and Molise, contributing to the promotion of cultural and wine tourism in the area.
The San Nicandro stop is confirmed for the 2026 edition, officially included in the event's calendar: the dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced by the organizers.
Heritage Wine Fest returns to San Nicandro Garganico in 2026: the stop is listed among the scheduled events of the traveling festival between Puglia and Molise. At the moment, the organizers have not yet communicated the official date or the evening's program. It is recommended to check the website and official channels of One Eventi for updates on tastings and participating wineries.
San Nicandro Garganico is located on the Gargano, in the province of Foggia. By car, it can be reached from the A14 motorway (Poggio Imperiale exit), continuing along the SS693 towards the Gargano. The San Nicandro Garganico railway station is served by the Adriatic line.
Entry to the Borgo Antico is free. Tastings are carried out by purchasing a dedicated ticket, which can be bought online or directly on-site on the evening of the event. Discounts are available for sommeliers from industry associations.
Wear comfortable shoes for the stone streets of the historic center and book your ticket in advance for the busiest evenings.
