About Hausberg Festival

The Hausberg Festival am Rosskopf is the grand finale of the winter season at the Monte Cavallo ski area, the local mountain of Vipiteno in South Tyrol. For a full weekend in late March, the slopes, high-altitude mountain huts, and the valley station transform into an open-air stage: DJ sets at the mountain huts, live bands under the Biwak marquee, and plenty of après-ski with views of the Alps. Spring skiing and music merge in an event that has become a staple of the Sterzing spring calendar.

The Hausberg Festival am Rosskopf

The Hausberg Festival am Rosskopf is the party that closes the winter season in style at the Monte Cavallo (Rosskopf) ski area, the iconic local mountain (Hausberg) overlooking Vipiteno/Sterzing, in the heart of South Tyrol. Reachable in just a few minutes by cable car from the historic center, Monte Cavallo becomes a massive open-air stage for an entire weekend, where skiing, spring sunshine, and live music meet at an altitude of two thousand meters.

Music on the slopes and at the valley station

The event's formula is what makes it unique: the music isn't confined to a single stage but follows skiers throughout the day. During midday, DJ sets and concerts take place directly at the high-altitude mountain huts scattered along the slopes, allowing you to ski from one refuge to another with the soundtrack always playing. In the afternoon and evening, the party moves to the Biwak marquee at the valley station, where live bands perform until late in a true mountain après-ski atmosphere.

An event for the whole family

The Hausberg Festival isn't just for ski lovers: the second day also features South Tyrolean folk music, a brass band, and Schuhplattler groups—the traditional Tyrolean dance—making the event suitable for families and those who head up the mountain simply to enjoy the atmosphere. The initiative is accompanied by the traditional Hausberg lottery, with generous prizes drawn among participants, as well as the awards ceremony for local city races.

Vipiteno and Monte Cavallo

Organized by the Monte Cavallo lift company, the festival is part of the event calendar of the Municipality of Vipiteno/Sterzing, one of the most beautiful medieval towns in South Tyrol, famous for its arcaded street and the Twelve Tower (Zwölferturm). The event ideally closes the Trentino-South Tyrol ski season by combining mountain sports with conviviality and music, in a region where alpine culture and village festivals coexist naturally.
