A running festival in the heart of Sicily

The Happy Run Valledolmo Running Trophy is one of the most cherished running events in the province of Palermo. Every summer, the streets of Valledolmo transform into a town circuit where runners, enthusiasts, and entire families gather to run together. The event, held in memory of Nino Piazza, is much more than just a race: it is a gathering that fuses sport with the values of inclusion, friendship, and community celebration.

The course and races

The route winds entirely through the town center: a loop of approximately 1.5 km to be completed four times, for a total of 6 kilometers, with start and finish at Piazza dell'Olmo. Alongside the competitive race reserved for master categories, the program includes youth races for children and teenagers aged 4 to 16, divided by age groups on shorter courses suitable for the youngest participants.

The Zero Barriers Run

The most moving moment of the event is the Zero Barriers Run, a recreational walk designed to welcome people with disabilities and promote a sport that is truly accessible and open to everyone. It is this spirit of inclusion, combined with the memory of Nino Piazza marked by the traditional balloon release, that makes the Happy Run a unique event in the Sicilian running landscape.

Sport, community, and local products

The race is organized by the ASD Terrasfalto Team Bike and Running with the support of ACSI Western Sicily and the Valledolmo Municipal Administration, and is part of the regional BioRace circuit. Winners and top finishers are awarded baskets of local zero-kilometer products, while the day concludes with refreshments, music, and a DJ set in the square, in a true popular festival atmosphere. The Happy Run thus represents, for the Municipality of Valledolmo and the entire Madonie area, an occasion for sport, social interaction, and the promotion of the territory.
