Three days of Greek cuisine, music, and dance on Lake Maggiore
For an entire weekend, Piazza Guglielmo Marconi in Meina, overlooking the waters of Lake Maggiore, dresses up in the colors of Greece. The Greek Festival, organized by Original Greek Eat, turns the heart of the town into a lively Hellenic square, where the scents of the Mediterranean, traditional music, and authentic flavors of Greek cuisine accompany residents and tourists for three days of celebration. The event takes place in one of the most picturesque settings in the Province of Novara, on the Piedmontese side of the lake, in a town known as the "town of villas".
The absolute star is the gastronomy. The signature dish is the famous gyros served in soft pita, prepared on the spot with authentic ingredients and accompanied by traditional sauces. There are also options for those who prefer a vegetarian diet and a selection of craft beers to toast with friends. To complete the experience, there are free show cooking sessions—live demonstrations that reveal the secrets of Greek cuisine and allow the public to discover recipes and techniques from the Mediterranean tradition.
The festival is not just about food: the soundtrack is provided by traditional Greek music, which fills the square until evening, while Hellenic dances draw both adults and children into an authentic Mediterranean atmosphere. Between one course and another, the Meina waterfront becomes an open-air stage where conviviality is the true queen of the event.
The Greek Festival in Meina is a free-admission event designed for families, groups of friends, and visitors to Lake Maggiore. The setting of Piazza Marconi, where the town's ancient arsenal once stood and where the lake ferry terminal is now located, offers a unique backdrop: the outdoor tables, the aroma of Hellenic street food, and the view of the lake make this event a delicious and carefree stop during the Piedmontese summer.
Including the festival in your calendar is also an opportunity to discover Meina, an elegant resort town on the Piedmontese shore of Lake Maggiore. Between historic villas, gardens along the waterfront, and the Piazza Marconi ferry terminal, the town offers visitors to the Greek Festival a relaxing stroll before or after savoring traditional Hellenic dishes.
