About GF Moncrivilla

The Granfondo Moncrivilla is the mountain bike race that inaugurates the Nord Ovest MTB circuit every spring, winding through the woodland trails of Villareggia, in the Canavese area, and nearby Moncrivello. Organized by Pedale Leynicese under the aegis of the Italian Cycling Federation (Federciclismo), the GF Moncrivilla attracts over three hundred bikers from the provinces of Turin and Vercelli, racing on an entirely off-road track designed by local trail builders. It is a highly anticipated event for enthusiasts from Piedmont and the Aosta Valley, serving as the first true test of the competitive season.

The granfondo that opens the Nord Ovest MTB season

The Granfondo Moncrivilla is a mountain bike race that brings the town of Villareggia to life every spring. Located in the Canavese area of the Province of Turin, on the border with the Vercelli region and just a stone's throw from the Aosta Valley, it is the perfect setting for this event. Organized by Pedale Leynicese with the support of the Italian Cycling Federation, the GF Moncrivilla is the inaugural event of the Nord Ovest MTB circuit, a series of off-road cycling granfondos spanning Piedmont, Liguria, and the Aosta Valley.

A track through the woods of the Canavese

The route winds through the trails of Villareggia and Moncrivello, following entirely unpaved paths designed by local trail builders. The race alternates between technical wooded sections and faster, flowing segments, starting from the town center and following a loop repeated multiple times. In recent years, the track has covered approximately 40 kilometers with about 1,200 meters of elevation gain, with shorter routes (30 and 20 km) reserved for Junior and Master categories.

A deeply felt competitive challenge

Every year, the GF Moncrivilla gathers over three hundred participants, primarily from Piedmont and the Aosta Valley, for a day that pits Elite, Under 23, Junior, Master, and beginner riders against one another. As the first stage of the calendar, it is a highly anticipated moment for mountain bike enthusiasts in Northwest Italy, eager to start the season on a challenging yet fun course.

Villareggia and the Canavese in the saddle

For the small town of Villareggia, the granfondo is a showcase for the local area: the trails connecting the village to Moncrivello cross a hilly landscape of woods and fields typical of the Piedmontese Canavese. The event combines sport with the promotion of rural areas between the provinces of Turin and Vercelli, in a corner of Piedmont often overlooked by major tourist circuits.
