The Granfondo Città di Poppi is a well-established event for mountain bike enthusiasts from across Central Italy. Organized by GS Poppi BP Motion, the race takes place in Poppi, a stunning medieval village in the Casentino area of the Arezzo province, and celebrates its fifteenth edition in 2026. The meeting point, start, and finish are located in the heart of the town, at the base of the imposing Conti Guidi Castle, the valley's landmark and one of the best-preserved manors in Tuscany.

Trails in the heart of the Casentinesi Forests

What makes this granfondo special is the territory it traverses: the tracks wind through the woods of the Casentinesi Forests and climb up to the Pratomagno ridges, alternating between forest roads, dirt tracks, and single tracks immersed in nature. For the 2026 season, the organizers offer three distances designed to satisfy riders of every level:

• Marathon (new for 2026): 69 km with approximately 2,700 meters of elevation gain, reaching the Croce del Pratomagno at an altitude of 1,600 meters, one of the most panoramic points of the entire route;
• Granfondo: approximately 40-45 km with about 1,580-1,600 meters of elevation gain;
• Classic: approximately 25-26 km with about 700-990 meters of elevation gain, the most accessible race.

A circuit between Tuscany and Umbria

The Granfondo Città di Poppi is part of some of the main mountain bike circuits in Central Italy: the UmbriaTuscany MTB, the Coppa Toscana MTB, and the Tour Tre Regioni. This makes it an unmissable stop for those chasing the seasonal general classification and attracts participants not only from Tuscany but also from Umbria, Emilia-Romagna, and the Marche. Over the years, the race has seen many stars of the national mountain biking scene at the starting line, confirming its status as a major sporting event for the entire Casentino region.
