An evening of tasting featuring Trentodoc, Champagne, and Franciacorta in the historic center of Rome
The Grand Tasting: The Great Sparkling Wines is the event Signorvino dedicates to the world of classic method sparkling wines at its Largo dei Lombardi 8 location, in the Campo Marzio district, just steps from Via del Corso and the Mausoleum of Augustus. We are in the heart of the historic center of the Municipality of Rome, in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in Lazio: a location that makes the evening easily accessible on foot from Piazza di Spagna, the Pantheon, and Piazza del Popolo.
This is not a fair or a crowded tasting counter, but a guided, seated tasting with limited capacity, lasting about three hours. The staff accompanies participants glass after glass, explaining the region of origin, the production method, and the logic behind the pairing with the served dish. The language is intentionally accessible: those participating for the first time will never feel out of place, while those with more experience will still find insights into dosages, aging on lees, and the differences between the great classic methods.
The common thread of the evening is the comparison between three different interpretations of bottle-fermented wines: the Trentino mountains, French Champagne, and Lombardy's Franciacorta. Each wine is served with a preparation from the Signorvino kitchen, following the house style that combines typical Italian products with traditional Roman dishes.
The Largo dei Lombardi space is the brand's second Roman location, inaugurated in February 2026: about two hundred square meters, sixty seats inside and forty in the outdoor area on the small square, with a cellar that exceeds two thousand labels selected from the best Italian wineries. It is therefore not just the setting for an evening, but a reference point for those who want to buy a bottle or stop for dinner after the tasting.
Great sparkling wines are often associated with celebratory occasions and remain, for many, an unexplored territory. An evening like this allows you to compare them directly, at the same time and with the same yardstick: you can understand why a mountain Trentodoc has a different acidic tension than a Franciacorta rosé, and how a small producer's Champagne can fearlessly stand up to a structured dish like carbonara. It is also a different way to experience a summer evening in the center of Rome, away from the crowds of outdoor venues and at a slower pace.
Places are limited and booking is exclusively online: it is advisable to act in advance, as sparkling wine themed evenings tend to sell out. It is preferable to arrive a few minutes before the start time to be seated. As this is an alcoholic tasting, those arriving by car are invited to consider public transport: the area is pedestrianized and well-served.
A unique evening, Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM, in the Signorvino spaces at Largo dei Lombardi, in the historic center of Rome. The tasting journey is built on three great classic methods and as many gastronomic pairings curated by the venue's kitchen.
The formula is the proven one of the Grand Tastings: limited capacity, table service, and the story of the wines glass by glass, with attention to the territory of origin and winemaking choices. A proposal suitable even for those approaching the world of classic method sparkling wines for the first time.
