Every summer, Courmayeur, in the Aosta Valley, becomes the capital of trail running with the Gran Trail Courmayeur, held within the framework of the Mont Blanc Trail Fest. The event attracts nearly 2000 athletes from over 60 nations, drawn by the high-altitude trails of the Mont Blanc massif and a course that traverses some of the most spectacular alpine pastures, valleys, and ridges in the Western Alps.
Three distances for every level
The festival offers three races starting and finishing at Piazza Abbé Henry, in the center of Courmayeur:
- GTC100: 100 km with 7400 m of positive elevation gain, the queen event reserved for the most experienced ultratrailers;
- GTC55: 55 km with 3500 m D+, an intermediate, highly technical distance;
- GTC30: 30 km with 2000 m D+, also accessible to those new to mountain trail running.
Organization and atmosphere
The event is organized by VDA Trailers, a local Aosta Valley company specializing in mountain races. In addition to the races, the village in the square enlivens the town with expos, award ceremonies, and festive moments, making the weekend a true festival for enthusiasts and the public of Courmayeur, in the province of Aosta.
Gran Trail Courmayeur — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Gran Trail Courmayeur is scheduled for July 10-12, with starts and finishes from Piazza Abbé Henry. Three distances are offered: the GTC100 (100 km, 7400 m D+, maximum time 33 hours), the GTC55 (55 km, 3500 m D+, 18-hour maximum time), and the GTC30 (30 km, 2000 m D+, 8-hour maximum time). The event is organized by VDA Trailers.

- GTC100 — 100 km, 7400 m D+, maximum time 33 hours, start at 10:00 PM (100 participants)
- GTC55 — 55 km, 3500 m D+, maximum time 18 hours, start at 7:00 AM
- GTC30 — 30 km, 2000 m D+, maximum time 8 hours, start at 9:00 AM

How to get there
Courmayeur is reachable by car via the A5 motorway (Courmayeur exit). By train to Aosta or Pré-Saint-Didier, then take a local bus to Courmayeur. Starts and finishes are in Piazza Abbé Henry.
