About Gran Premio UCAT

The Gran Premio UCAT 1907 is one of the most prestigious classics in Italian youth cycling. Every spring, Paesana and the Po Valley welcome Italy's top junior riders for a demanding and spectacular race held on a technical circuit at the foot of Monviso. Organized by the historic Unione Ciclistica Alpina Torinese, the race boasts an illustrious roll of honor, featuring champions such as Filippo Ganna, Italo Zilioli, and Claudio Chiappucci, and attracts teams from across Italy and abroad.

A junior cycling classic in the heart of the Po Valley

The Gran Premio UCAT 1907 is one of the most anticipated cycling races on the Italian youth calendar. Reserved for the junior category, the event takes place in Paesana, in the province of Cuneo, at the foot of Monviso and at the entrance to the picturesque Po Valley in Piedmont. The event is organized by the U.C.A.T. 1907 - Unione Ciclistica Alpina Torinese, one of the oldest and most renowned sports clubs in the Piedmont region, which has been promoting youth cycling for over a century.

A roll of honor featuring great champions

The history of the Gran Premio UCAT is intertwined with the history of great Italian cycling: past winners include names who have gone on to conquer the international stage, such as Filippo Ganna, Italo Zilioli, and Claudio Chiappucci. This prestigious past makes the race a key event closely watched by experts and talent scouts, always on the lookout for the champions of tomorrow.

The course and the sporting challenge

The race is held on a challenging circuit of approximately 101 kilometers, to be completed twice, passing through the territories of Paesana, Sanfront, Gambasca, Martiniana Po, Rifreddo, Saluzzo, Revello, Envie, and Barge. The Colletta di Barge climb is the key point of the route, often proving decisive in selecting the group and launching winning attacks. The start is set in Piazza Vittorio Veneto, in the center of Paesana, which also serves as the hub for the festive atmosphere accompanying the day.

Atmosphere and territory

More than just a competition, the Gran Premio UCAT is a celebration of sport and community that highlights the Po Valley and the entire municipality of Paesana. The streets come alive with spectators, families, and enthusiasts, while the silhouette of Monviso provides a natural backdrop to the race. The day also includes side events designed for children, such as a non-competitive fun ride, confirming the popular and family-oriented nature of the event.

A tradition rooted in Piedmont

For about fifteen years, the race has found a permanent home in Paesana, following historic editions held from Turin towards the Langhe and Canavese areas. Today, the Gran Premio UCAT 1907 is a symbol of the sporting identity of the Cuneo area and all of Piedmont, capable of uniting cycling tradition, the promotion of young talent, and the enhancement of an authentic corner of the Italian Alps.
