The Gran Premio della Liberazione - Città delle Alfonsine is one of the longest-standing and most cherished events in the Ravenna province's running calendar. Organized by the Podistica Alfonsinese with the patronage of the Municipality of Alfonsine and the collaboration of the Sports Department, the event boasts an illustrious past: for many years, it was held as a half marathon before shifting to the 10 km distance, which is now part of the Uisp Provincial Championship.

The races and the course

The heart of the event is the 10 km competitive race, reserved for registered athletes, along a decidedly fast and flowing course designed to take in the outskirts of Alfonsine. Alongside the competitive race, there are 10 km and 2.5 km fun runs, open to everyone, including walkers and families: a format that makes the Gran Premio a popular and inclusive event, capable of attracting hundreds of participants to the finish line in Piazzale Gramsci each year.

An event with a meaningful name

The event is ideally linked to the Liberation Day celebrations and holds a strong sense of remembrance: the special men's prize is offered by the A.N.P.I. of Alfonsine, while the women's award is dedicated to the memory of Nadia Luzzaro, a beloved athlete of the Podistica Alfonsinese. A race that combines sport, community, and roots, perfectly integrated into the identity of a town that is a symbol of the Resistance in Bassa Romagna.
