The mountain bike granfondo that races along the ridges of Alta Valmarecchia, starting and finishing in the heart of Novafeltria
The Gran Fondo Alta Valmarecchia is the mountain bike race that attracts hundreds of bikers every summer to Novafeltria, a municipality in the hinterland of the Province of Rimini, in Emilia-Romagna. Founded in 2024, the event is organized by ASD Valmaracing Team and is based in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, from where all participants start and finish. In a very short time, it has become a regular fixture for those who love cycling through the woods and ridges of Alta Valmarecchia, that strip of Romagna straddling Marche and Tuscany where the hills already become mountains.
The course is designed to satisfy both competitive racers and cycle tourists: a single loop that alternates challenging climbs and smoother descents. In past editions, the route covered 41 kilometers with about 1,400 meters of elevation gain, with sections reaching gradients of 20% and climbs that have become part of the race's tradition, such as the Salita delle Coste and the Salita della Madonna del Soccorso. The second half of the loop is mainly downhill, faster and less selective, so that even those who ride for pleasure can reach the finish line. There are also passages through the Apennine woods, including those of Monte Benedetto.
The Gran Fondo Alta Valmarecchia is not just a local race. It is a round of the ACSI GFIN National Mountain Bike Championship and, from 2026, it has become part of the Tour3Regioni, the most historic MTB granfondo circuit in Central Italy, connecting Tuscany, Emilia-Romagna, and Marche. In the 2026 edition, it represents the fifth stage of the circuit, confirming rapid growth that has made Novafeltria one of the most sought-after destinations for bikers in central Italy.
Beyond the competition, the day is a true celebration for Novafeltria: the streets of the center are decorated by the Pro Loco, the public gathers in the square, and the atmosphere is that of a big village Sunday. An opportunity to discover an authentic corner of the Romagna hinterland, with its villages, churches, and landscapes stretching from the Valmarecchia to the Adriatic Sea.
The 2026 edition of the Gran Fondo Alta Valmarecchia, the third in the young history of the event, will take place on Sunday, July 5, 2026, in Novafeltria (RN). The meeting point, start, and finish remain at Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, in the town center, with the race day scheduled from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The most significant novelty is the entry into the Tour3Regioni, the historic mountain bike circuit that unites Tuscany, Emilia-Romagna, and Marche: Valmarecchia is the fifth stage. The race also confirms its role as a round of the ACSI GFIN National Championship.
The detailed route, distances, elevation gain, start times for the different categories, and registration fees will be communicated by ASD Valmaracing Team on the official website and social media channels in the weeks leading up to the event.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition (routes, distances, elevation gain, start times, and category grids) will be published by ASD Valmaracing Team on the official website valmaracing.it in the weeks preceding the race.
Following the trend of previous editions, a unique technical but accessible loop is expected, open to competitors, cycle tourists, and gravel riders; the official details of the 2026 course will be confirmed by the organization.
