The great summer festival of the Municipality of Uzzano, in the Valdinievole region
Giugno Uzzanese is the major event series that lights up the summer every year in the Municipality of Uzzano, a small hillside village in the Valdinievole area, in the province of Pistoia (Tuscany). Originally a program concentrated in the month of June, it has expanded over the years to cover a much longer period: in the 2026 edition, the schedule runs from May until August 23rd, leading the mayor himself to note that the name "Giugno Uzzanese" (Uzzano June) is now reductive for a festival that spans the entire summer season.
The strength of the festival lies in its authentically grassroots character: the events are born from the collaboration between the Municipal Administration and numerous local associations—including Gocce di Vita Onlus, the local Misericordia, and village clubs—which take turns organizing evenings spread across all the hamlets. The calendar alternates between social, cultural, sporting, and charitable moments, directly involving citizens of all ages.
The program opens in spring with the Viva il Primo Maggio (Long Live May Day) evening, dinner at the Circolo Bardelli, and the Gocce di Vita aperitif-show for the association's twentieth anniversary. Between late May and June, the unmissable charity raffles and Misericordia evenings return.
Closing the long festival is the Notte Bianco-Rosa (White-Pink Night), scheduled for August 23rd: a widespread party evening with street food, markets, games for children, and entertainment, transforming the town streets into a large open-air lounge.
More than just a single event, Giugno Uzzanese is the choral story of a community coming together. Through social dinners in local clubs, village festivals, and solidarity initiatives, the series reflects the most genuine identity of the Pistoian Valdinievole: that of small Tuscan villages where the festival is above all an occasion for meeting, shared memory, and welcoming those arriving from outside.
The 2026 edition kicked off in spring with the Viva il Primo Maggio evening, dinners at local clubs, and the aperitif for the twentieth anniversary of Gocce di Vita. The heart of the festival ignited in Torricchio with the Artichoke Festival and an evening of 80s and 90s music. Key events include: the Painting Extemporanea in Uzzano Castello (June 15th), the fashion show (June 19th), the charity dinner for the twinning with Tambobamba, and the Sportambula event (June 28th), along with shows like La Corrida and Siamo Donne and open-air cinema nights.
The festival concludes on August 23rd with the Notte Bianco-Rosa, a widespread celebration with street food, markets, and entertainment through the town streets.
Events take place in various locations within the Municipality of Uzzano (PT), in the Valdinievole: the main town of Uzzano Castello, the hamlet of Torricchio, and the clubs and squares of the surrounding areas.
By car: from the A11 Firenze–Mare motorway, take the Chiesina Uzzanese or Montecatini Terme exit, then follow signs for Uzzano. By train: Montecatini Terme or Pescia station on the Florence–Lucca–Viareggio line, then local bus connections. By plane: Pisa and Florence airports, both about an hour away.
Many events offer free admission; social dinners, raffles, and charity evenings require participation fees or reservations through the organizing associations. For information and bookings, it is recommended to contact the Municipality of Uzzano or the local clubs.
