Gironi Divini is one of the most acclaimed food and wine events in the Marsica region and all of Abruzzo. Every summer, the village of Tagliacozzo, one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy in the province of L'Aquila, opens its historic center to welcome wineries, producers, and enthusiasts for a three-day celebration entirely dedicated to regional wines. The setting is truly unforgettable: medieval streets, the Cloister of San Francesco, and above all the majestic Palazzo Ducale Orsini-Colonna become the stage for tastings, talks, and high-profile finals.
What makes Gironi Divini unique in the Abruzzo landscape is its deep cultural bond with Dante Alighieri. The event was created to celebrate the mention of Tagliacozzo in the 28th Canto of the Inferno, where the Supreme Poet recalls the Battle of Tagliacozzo on August 23, 1268, which saw Charles I of Anjou face Conradin of Swabia and changed the destiny of Italy. Hence the name of the event and its most coveted symbol: the "Dante's Wine" award, presented to the best labels in the competition.
The heart of Gironi Divini is a food and wine journey winding through eight tasting stations set up in the historic center, where sommeliers guide the public in discovering hundreds of selected labels. Every evening, in the courtyard of the Palazzo Ducale, the highly anticipated finals of the great Abruzzo wines take place: Pecorino, Trebbiano, Cerasuolo, and Montepulciano d'Abruzzo compete before a technical jury. The program also includes in-depth talks, ranging from amphora-aged wines to more unusual labels, as well as exclusive tastings of cigars and local liqueurs like genziana and ratafiร .
Organized by the Live Communication Group, Gironi Divini attracts thousands of visitors to Tagliacozzo every year, helping to promote the viticultural heritage of Abruzzo and the historical-cultural richness of this corner of the Marsica. An event that combines taste, history, and territory in the heart of the Abruzzo region.
For 2026, Gironi Divini is once again expected in Tagliacozzo, in the province of L'Aquila, with its usual format dedicated to Abruzzo wines and the figure of Dante Alighieri. At the moment, the dates and program for the 2026 edition have not yet been released: it is recommended to check the official website and social media channels for updates. Based on previous editions, the event is expected to feature the tasting trail through the historic center, the finals of the great Abruzzo wines at the Palazzo Ducale, and in-depth sessions with sommeliers and experts.
Tagliacozzo is located in the province of L'Aquila, in the Marsica region. By car, it is easily accessible via the A24/A25 Rome-L'Aquila-Pescara motorway (Tagliacozzo exit). The Tagliacozzo railway station is served by the Rome-Pescara line and is a short distance from the historic center.
The event traditionally takes place in August over the course of three evenings.
Information, updated programs, and ticket purchases are available on the official website www.gironidivini.it. Tastings take place in the historic center and at the Palazzo Ducale.
