The timed mountain climb on the Renon Plateau, part of the oldest cycling rally in the Dolomites.
The Giro delle Dolomiti is the oldest multi-day cycling rally dedicated to lovers of the Dolomites. Established in 1977, it takes place every year in mid-July, with its logistics hub at the Bolzano Exhibition Centre, traversing the landscapes of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites. For the 2026 edition, the 49th, the event features a brand-new stage entirely dedicated to the Renon Plateau (known as Ritten in German), located in the municipality of Renon/Ritten in the province of Bolzano (Trentino-South Tyrol).
The Renon stage is the third leg of the Giro, scheduled for Wednesday, July 15, 2026. It is the shortest of the entire event: approximately 20.5 kilometres with an elevation gain of 948 metres. The start is at the Bolzano Exhibition Centre; the timed section begins in Bolzano Rencio and climbs through a series of hairpin bends, first through the Santa Maddalena vineyards and then through mixed woodland, until reaching the sunny plateau. The finish line is in Collalbo (Klobenstein), the main town of Renon, after passing through the village of Auna di Sotto.
Along the climb, participants are rewarded with spectacular views of the Alpe di Siusi, the Sciliar, and the Sassolungo. The Renon Plateau is one of the most beloved hiking destinations in South Tyrol, famous for its earth pyramids, the historic Renon narrow-gauge railway, and the mild climate that has always made it a popular holiday spot. The stage refreshment point is located at the Ritten Arena. The first stage of the 2026 Giro also passes through the Renon area.
The Giro delle Dolomiti is not a professional race but an amateur cycling rally open to enthusiasts aged 18 to 75, with rankings reserved only for the timed sections of each stage. Each day starts and ends in Bolzano, in an atmosphere that blends sport, nature, and exploration. E-bikes are also permitted, with dedicated rankings. The event is organized by the ASD Giro delle Dolomiti and attracts participants from over 35 countries, with large groups from Italy, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Norway, and Switzerland.
Registration includes comprehensive services: a personalized race number, chip timing, luggage transport, mechanical and medical assistance along the route, refreshments, insurance, and GPS tracks of the routes. You can register for the full five-stage package or for individual legs.

The logistics hub for all stages is the Bolzano Exhibition Centre, easily accessible by car via the A22 motorway (Bolzano Sud exit) and by train at the Bolzano station.
