Four days of sport and music for the start of the 8th stage, Rivoli-Sestriere
For a few days, the town of Rivoli—a bustling center in the western suburbs of Turin, Piedmont—becomes the heart of international women's cycling. The city hosts the start of the 8th stage of the Giro d'Italia Women, the Rivoli-Sestriere leg, and builds an entire program of free initiatives around this sporting event, combining sports, music, entertainment, and family activities. It is an occasion where the competitive event transforms into a true community celebration, involving residents, visitors, and local shopkeepers.
The 101-kilometer Rivoli-Sestriere stage is one of the most anticipated and grueling days of the entire women's race. Along the route, the athletes tackle the legendary ascent of Colle delle Finestre, renamed for the occasion as "Cima Alfonsina Strada" in honor of the pioneer of Italian women's cycling. The official start is set on Corso Francia, near Piazza Martiri della Libertà, accompanied by pink-themed window displays created by the city's merchants.
On the eve of the race, Rivoli comes alive for its Notte Rosa: an evening spread across the historic center with shops open late, themed displays, and the Rivoli Summer Ride musical show, featuring nationally renowned artists. The program continues on race day with road safety workshops and bicycle obstacle courses for children, culminating in the grand finale of the Rivoli Rocks collective concert, dedicated to local youth.
The event is promoted by the City of Rivoli with the patronage of the Piedmont Region and the Metropolitan City of Turin, and benefits from the organizational support of TurismOvest. It is a prime example of how a town in the Province of Turin can transform a major sporting event into a moment of local pride and collective participation, with all events free of charge.
Dal 3 al 6 giugno 2026 Rivoli ha vissuto la sua settimana in rosa attorno alla partenza dell'8ª tappa del Giro d'Italia Women verso il Sestriere.
