The queen stage of the Dolomites, starting from Longarone
The Giro d'Italia Women, the most important stage race in women's cycling worldwide, organized by RCS Sport, stops in the Belluno area in the 2026 edition. On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, Longarone hosts the start of the fifth stage, the fraction that insiders call the "queen stage" of the Dolomites in the race.
The 146 km route connects Longarone to Santo Stefano di Cadore, winding entirely within the province of Belluno. The athletes will face the great Dolomite passes in sequence, including the Passo Tre Croci and the Passo di Sant'Antonio, before a final circuit repeated twice that includes the climb of Costa (about 4 km at 9%). The total elevation gain exceeds 3,400 meters, on a day that could reshape the general classification for the pink jersey.
The stage start is much more than a race: it's an international showcase for Longarone and the Belluno Dolomites, with the start village, team presentations, and the popular festival that accompanies the passage of the pink caravan.
The fifth stage of the Giro d'Italia Women 2026 starts from Longarone on Wednesday, June 3, and concludes in Santo Stefano di Cadore after 146 km entirely within the province of Belluno. It is one of the most demanding stages of the race, with four categorized climbs and over 3,400 meters of elevation gain.
Longarone is reachable by car along the SS51 Alemagna; the Longarone-Zoldo train station is on the Belluno-Calalzo line. Traffic modifications are planned along the route on race days.
The event is free and can be watched along the roads of the route and in the start and finish areas.
