A race in the heart of Giardinello

The Giardinello City Road Race Trophy is a road race held in the small town of Giardinello, in the province of Palermo, nestled in the hilly hinterland of northwestern Sicily. The event, which saw its inaugural edition in 2025, transforms the town's streets for a morning into a genuine city circuit, where runners of all ages compete along a route that winds through the heart of the village.

The Route

The main race covers a 6-kilometer loop, consisting of six one-kilometer laps through the main streets of Giardinello. The track passes through Via Fiume, Via Foscolo, Via Machiavelli, and Via Pertini, with the start and finish located on Via Aldo Moro, in front of the municipal offices. The closed, multi-lap circuit makes the race particularly exciting for spectators, who can follow the athletes from the roadside at every pass.

Categories and Program

The event is open to elite and Master categories (Juniors, Promises, Seniors, and male/female Masters) and dedicates significant space to younger runners with age-appropriate trials: from the 'Esordienti' (beginners), running distances of a few hundred meters, to the 'Allievi' (cadets) competing on longer stretches. This format makes the Trophy a family-friendly event where competitive spirit and community participation go hand in hand.

The first edition served as a stage of the Palermo Provincial Youth/Master Grand Prix Circuit, confirming the race's integration into the local running scene.
