About Review of White Asparagus

From spring to early summer, the restaurants of Bassano del Grappa celebrate the White Asparagus of Bassano DOP, the sweet and delicate vegetable grown in the sandy soils of the foothills. The Gastronomic Review, promoted by the Bassanesi Restaurateurs Group of Confcommercio, offers dedicated menus and gala dinners featuring local products, in a season that traditionally runs from Saint Joseph's Day to Saint Anthony's Day.

The white gold of Bassano

The White Asparagus of Bassano DOP is one of the most beloved products of the Venetian foothills: tender, sweet, and without bitterness, it grows in the sandy soils around Bassano del Grappa (province of Vicenza) and is harvested by hand. Every spring, it is the star of a long Gastronomic Review involving restaurants in the city and the surrounding area.

A tradition of over forty years

Promoted by the Bassanesi Restaurateurs Group of Confcommercio, the review offers dedicated menus featuring white asparagus and a series of gala dinners in participating restaurants, where chefs reinterpret the vegetable according to traditional recipes and creative proposals. The season follows the agricultural calendar, which dictates that asparagus should be on the table from Saint Joseph's Day (March 19) to Saint Anthony's Day (June 13).

Between cuisine and local culture

In addition to the dishes, the event is an opportunity to discover the food and wine culture of Bassano and the Veneto region, in dialogue with Italian Cuisine, a candidate for UNESCO heritage. It is an eagerly awaited event for enthusiasts and tourists who combine a visit to the city of the Ponte degli Alpini with the discovery of an iconic product.

Review of White Asparagus — edition 2026

The 46th Gastronomic Review of the White Asparagus of Bassano DOP, promoted by the Bassanesi Restaurateurs Group of Confcommercio, was presented on March 18 and kicked off on March 19, 2026. The season, dedicated to the white gold of Bassano and UNESCO heritage Italian Cuisine, features typical menus in participating restaurants and ten gala dinners scheduled from March 27 to May 22, 2026.

The 46th edition of the Review was presented on March 18 and officially opened the season on March 19, 2026, in line with the tradition of having the White Asparagus of Bassano DOP on the table from Saint Joseph's Day to Saint Anthony's Day.

Promoted by the Bassanesi Restaurateurs Group of Confcommercio, it offers dedicated menus in restaurants throughout the area and a schedule of ten gala dinners from March 27 to May 22, 2026, where chefs celebrate the vegetable alongside local excellences.
