About Campese Celery Festival

In mid-September, the hamlet of Campese, in Bassano del Grappa, celebrates the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows along with the Celery Festival, dedicated to the prized local celery. With a food stand, celery competition, Marian procession, concerts, karaoke, and baby dance, the community gathers for a few days of celebration that combine devotion, agricultural tradition, and conviviality at the foot of Monte Grappa.

Campese and its Celery

Campese is a hamlet of Bassano del Grappa (province of Vicenza), overlooking the Brenta river at the foot of the Brenta Canal. Here, every mid-September, the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows is celebrated along with the Celery Festival, dedicated to the renowned campese celery, a prized and crunchy local vegetable.

Between Faith and Agricultural Tradition

The festival combines the religious dimension โ€” with the solemn mass and the procession with the statue of Our Lady of Sorrows accompanied by the band โ€” with the popular one. The most anticipated moment is the celery competition, with the evaluation and tasting of campese celery with dipping sauce, which attracts producers and curious visitors.

Music, Games, and Food Stand

The evenings come alive with concerts, karaoke, baby dance, traditional games, sports competitions, and a photography contest. The food stand offers traditional dishes, with campese celery as a special ingredient. An authentic village festival, organized by the hamlet committee, where the product of the land becomes a community celebration.
