The spring garden market in Lagundo, featuring Mediterranean plants and natural products
Gartenflair Algund is the spring event that brings the center of Lagundo (Algund) to life every year. This charming town in the Burgraviato district, located just outside Merano in the province of Bolzano and the Trentino-South Tyrol region, hosts the festival in its pedestrian-friendly Church Square (Kirchplatz). For a few days, the square becomes a vibrant carpet of greenery and color, celebrating the start of the gardening season in one of South Tyrol's most floral towns.
The heart of the event is a rich market dedicated to the world of gardening. Along the square, nurserymen and artisans offer:
Gartenflair Algund is more than just a market: every day is accompanied by live music in the afternoon and a rich program of creative workshops hosted at the Thalguterhaus, designed for both adults and children. Activities in various editions have included: building bird and insect houses, floral arrangements and wreaths, macramé techniques, and natural-style decorations. The event also features a culinary section, with stands and seasonal kitchens highlighting healthy dishes and garden-fresh produce.
Organized by the Lagundo Tourist Association (Tourismusverein Algund), the event promotes an eco-friendly spirit and encourages visitors to reach the town by bus or bicycle. Admission is free, and the atmosphere—filled with the scent of flowers and musical notes—makes Gartenflair Algund one of the most pleasant ways to discover the Mediterranean and horticultural character of this corner of South Tyrol.
The event takes place in the Church Square of Lagundo, typically from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The town, located at the foot of Monte San Vigilio and just minutes from Merano, is easily accessible and provides an ideal setting for a spring stroll among gardens and plants.
From April 30 to May 3, 2026, the Church Square of Lagundo hosted a new edition of Gartenflair Algund, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The market featured cypresses, lemon trees, cacti, olive trees, oleanders, and palms, along with fruit trees, aromatic herbs, roses, and natural products. Every afternoon, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, creative workshops at the Thalguterhaus and live music enlivened the event.
The musical program featured performances by Michael Aster (April 30), Judit Pixner (May 1), The Sorrys (May 2), and Cabriolet (May 3). Workshops included: creating cards with natural prints, building bird and insect houses, floral arrangements and wreaths, and macramé techniques.
Lagundo/Algund is located a few kilometers from Merano, in the province of Bolzano. By car: take the Merano South exit from the MEBO expressway (Bolzano-Merano). By train: reach Merano station, then take the local bus to Lagundo. Organizers encourage reaching the event by bus or bicycle.
