The Dro stop of the major Garda Trentino jazz festival, held at the River Park
The Garda Jazz Festival is the historic jazz event of Garda Trentino, organized by the Alto Garda Music School (SMAG). It spans about two weeks across the municipalities of Arco, Riva del Garda, Torbole sul Garda, Tenno, and Dro, in the province of Trento, within the autonomous region of Trentino-Alto Adige. As part of this traveling program, the municipality of Dro hosts a dedicated annual stop, bringing high-level jazz to one of the most evocative natural settings in the lower Sarca valley.
The Dro event is typically held at the River Park, a green area along the Sarca river just a stone's throw from the town's Cultural Center. It is one of the festival's most beloved venues: a natural amphitheater where music dialogues with the Alto Garda landscape, amidst meadows, waterways, and the valley's limestone walls. In case of bad weather, the concert is moved indoors to the Dro Cultural Center hall, ensuring the event always takes place.
The evening in Dro offers free admission, consistent with the festival's mission to make jazz accessible to all and to promote the participating municipalities. The concert is part of a program that revolves around a different theme each year, ranging from swing to contemporary jazz, and from ethnic and pop influences to the great African-American tradition, featuring both Italian and international artists.
The Dro stop perfectly encapsulates the spirit of the Garda Jazz Festival: combining great live music with the promotion of the Alto Garda region's identity. The festival is supported by the Trentino-Alto Adige Region, the Autonomous Province of Trento, and the participating municipalities, who recognize it as a cultural excellence of the area. For the audience, it is a chance to discover a corner of Garda Trentino different from the lake shores on a warm summer evening.
The Dro stop of the Garda Jazz Festival 2026 will take place on Thursday, July 30 at 9:00 PM at the River Park, as part of the 27th edition of the festival, titled «De Rerum Natura» (running from July 27 to August 9 in Garda Trentino).
On stage, singer and composer Beatrice Arrigoni with her quartet, presenting the project «Terrestre», her second album released in 2024 by Barly Records. It is a contemporary jazz work that weaves together pop, ethnic, and classical influences, with original songs in Italian that reflect on the human being and our bond with the Earth. The project received the «New Generation Jazz 2026» support and was named one of the best Italian albums of the year.
The concert is free to attend. In case of bad weather, the event will move to the Dro Cultural Center hall at 9:30 PM.
Dro is located in the province of Trento, in the lower Sarca valley, a few kilometers from Arco and Riva del Garda. By car: take the A22 motorway exit at Rovereto Sud, then the SS240 towards Riva del Garda and follow signs for Dro. By train: arrive at Rovereto station, then take the local bus to Alto Garda. Nearest airports: Verona Villafranca and Bergamo Orio al Serio.
The concert in Dro is free to attend. No ticket purchase is required; however, booking is recommended for festival events. Full program and information available on gardajazz.com and gardatrentino.it.
As this is an open-air concert along the river, we recommend comfortable clothing and a light sweater for the evening. In case of bad weather, the event will move to the Dro Cultural Center hall; always check for any changes on the official festival website.
