About Gadersound Open Air

The Gadersound Open Air Festival is a live music summer event held in mid-July at Plans dl Galber, in the village of Pederoa, within the municipality of La Valle/Wengen in Alta Badia (Bolzano province, Trentino-Alto Adige). Two days of reggae, ska, and folk featuring local and international bands, set in a natural amphitheatre between the Gadera stream and the forest. Organized by over a hundred young Ladin volunteers from the Adüm group, it is a certified Green Event dedicated to music, inclusion, and environmental sustainability, featuring free camping, vegetarian and vegan food options, and a family-friendly atmosphere.

An open-air festival in the Ladin Dolomites

The Gadersound Open Air Festival is one of the most beloved musical highlights of the South Tyrolean summer. It takes place at Plans dl Galber, in the hamlet of Pederoa, in the municipality of La Valle/Wengen, Alta Badia, in the province of Bolzano (Trentino-Alto Adige). The stage is set up in a stunning natural amphitheatre, nestled between the Gadera stream and the woods, just steps away from the Dolomite peaks: a setting that turns every concert into an immersive experience in the heart of the mountains.

Reggae, ska, and folk from around the world

The festival features two days of reggae, ska, and folk music, showcasing a mix of local talent alongside Italian and international acts. The program spans from reggae and ska to folk-rock and Balkan and Latin sounds, with a rhythm that keeps the crowd dancing from the afternoon until late at night. Over the years, the Pederoa stage has hosted renowned bands from the Italian reggae scene such as Train to Roots, Shanti Powa, and Sine Frontera, helping to build the event's reputation well beyond the borders of Val Badia.

A festival of community and volunteering

Behind Gadersound is the Gadersound Team, the group of Ladin volunteers known as the Adüm Group: in Ladin, "adüm" means "together," and it is precisely this community spirit that drives the more than one hundred local youths who organize the event every year. This participatory nature creates a welcoming and informal atmosphere, where music and social connection intertwine with the identity of the Ladin community in Alta Badia.

Green Event and hospitality

  • Green Event: waste sorting, reusable tableware, and incentives to arrive by bike or public transport along the Val Badia state road 244.
  • Free camping: tent area available to the public to enjoy both days worry-free.
  • Food court: culinary offerings with vegetarian and vegan options.
  • Inclusion: activities for families and children, in an event designed for all ages.

How to experience the festival

Gadersound can be reached by following the Val Badia state road 244 to Pederoa, in the municipality of La Valle/Wengen. Thanks to the free camping and the proximity to the hiking trails of Alta Badia, it is the perfect opportunity to combine two days of concerts with a holiday in the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites.
