The open-air art gallery on Via Caporali in Cesena
In the historic center of Cesena, in the heart of Romagna, Via Pier Maria Caporali transforms for a day into a true open-air art gallery. This is the essence of Furlè-Cézanne, an encounter between art and community that brings together painters from the province of Forlì-Cesena and offers residents and visitors an informal and participatory cultural experience. The playful name itself juxtaposes popular Romagna with great painting, reflecting the ambition to bring art out of museums and among the people, along a street in the Municipality of Cesena located near the Portaccia di Sant'Agostino.
Furlè-Cézanne is not just a festival: it is the visible outcome of the European project Cities@Heart, funded by the Urbact IV program and launched in Cesena in June 2023. For two years, the project has focused on the regeneration of historic centers and the relationship between public space and community, involving citizens, artists, merchants, and associations. From this process, the permanent urban installation on Via Caporali was born, an open-air gallery consisting of nine exhibition panels that host, in rotation, the works of young local artists.
The event animates the street from morning to evening with a rich and varied collateral program:
The initiative is made possible through the collaboration of numerous local entities, including Ex Bar Cristina, Piadamendola, Baricentro, Osteria Fondo, Quinto, Arte Vintage Shop, and ADARC, with the support of Romagna Acque. Admission is completely free and the event is designed for all ages.
Co-capital with Forlì of the province of Forlì-Cesena, in Emilia-Romagna, Cesena is a city of art on the Savio river, famous for the Rocca Malatestiana and the Malatestiana Library, the first example of a civic library in Europe and a UNESCO heritage site. Furlè-Cézanne naturally fits into this cultural vocation, often interacting with other initiatives in the city center such as the "Cesena si mostra" review, and contributes to keeping alive the relationship between contemporary art, tradition, and neighborhood life.
On Sunday, May 24, 2026, Via Pier Maria Caporali hosted the second edition of Furlè-Cézanne, starting at 11 AM. The encounter between art and community brought together painters from the province of Forlì-Cesena with exhibitions and live performances, accompanied by aperitifs, street music, and the usual book and vinyl fair.
This edition was part of the "Cesena si mostra" day, which animated the historic center from 9 AM to 8 PM with about 40 events including antiques, design, art, music, and commercial activities. The event, with free admission, was organized in collaboration with Ex Bar Cristina, Piadamendola, Baricentro, Osteria Fondo, Quinto, Arte Vintage Shop, and ADARC, and supported by Romagna Acque.
Furlè-Cézanne was one of the events of the "Cesena si mostra" day (from 9 AM to 8 PM in the historic center).
Furlè-Cézanne is held on Via Pier Maria Caporali, in the historic center of Cesena (Province of Forlì-Cesena, Emilia-Romagna), near the Portaccia di Sant'Agostino.
