A festival dedicated to nature, the environment, and the legends of the Pinerolo area
The Frossasco Green Fest has become a well-established event for the town of Frossasco, a village in the Pinerolo area of the Province of Turin, nestled at the foot of the mountains that separate the plains from the valleys. Born from the commitment of the Gruppo Progetto FroG and Legambiente Circolo di Pinerolo, the festival focuses on nature, the environment, and the deep bond between the community and its land.
Each edition revolves around a central theme that serves as a common thread for all initiatives: from sustainable water management to forest biodiversity, and the recovery of Piedmontese traditions and legends. The result is a festival that goes beyond ecology in the strict sense, embracing culture, history, literature, and local folklore.
The Green Fest program typically spans several days and blends different forms of expression. The heart of the event is the collective exhibition hosted in the Municipal Library in Piazza Donatori di Sangue, which brings together the works of numerous local artists. Alongside the exhibition, there are conferences, literary meetings, guided walks to discover wild flora, workshops and games for children, as well as themed markets.
Outdoor activities, from excursions to natural snacks, invite participants to rediscover the trails and natural environments surrounding the town, while evenings dedicated to books and legends give voice to the oral culture of the Pinerolo area.
The 2026 edition chose the theme "The Masche and their world", focusing on the famous legendary figures of Piedmontese folklore: women with deep knowledge of herbs and nature, persecuted as witches and later transformed into myth. A theme that perfectly intertwines nature, history, and popular traditions, confirming the festival's vocation to unite the environment and local culture.
Although it is a local town event, the Frossasco Green Fest stands out for the quality and coherence of its offerings. Free admission to all initiatives makes it an accessible and participatory event, designed for families and those who want to experience the Pinerolo area in a slow and conscious way.
The theme of the 2026 edition of the Frossasco Green Fest was dedicated to the Masche, the legendary figures of Piedmontese folklore: women with deep knowledge of herbs and ancient medicine, persecuted as witches and later becoming part of myth.
The heart of the festival was the collective exhibition "The Masche and their world", set up in the Municipal Library and dedicated to the legends and nature of the territory, featuring works by eleven local artists (Balocco, Berta, Castellino, Challier, Conti, Copetti, Cottino, Cusino, Dapo', Finello, and Trevisi). Alongside the exhibition, the program offered conferences, walks to discover wild herbs, a market, readings, children's games, and a literary meeting.
The collective exhibition remained open until May 17, with visiting hours on Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
The initiatives mainly take place at the Municipal Library of Frossasco, in Piazza Donatori di Sangue 1, as well as in various spaces around the town and on the surrounding nature trails.
Frossasco is located in the Pinerolo area, in the Province of Turin, and can be reached by car via the SP 589 road and from the Pinerolo area. The nearest train station is in Pinerolo, which is connected to Turin.
Admission to all initiatives is free.
