Four days of games, nature, shows, and workshops for children in the parks and squares of Bagnacavallo
"Di storia in storia – festival itinerante per bambine e bambini" is the event that every year transforms Bagnacavallo, in the province of Ravenna, into a large open-air wonderland. Promoted by the Comunicando Association on behalf of the Municipality of Bagnacavallo, in collaboration with the Berti comprehensive institute, local associations, and many volunteers, the festival offers a widespread and varied program, designed specifically for children and their families.
The formula is that of itinerancy: for four days, initiatives move between the most beautiful and significant places in the center and the territory, from historic squares to public parks, from libraries to nature oases. Not a single stage, but an entire city that becomes a space for play, discovery, and social interaction.
The heart of the festival is the encounter between three dimensions: play, with creative workshops, recreational activities, and traditional games; nature, experienced up close at Podere Pantaleone and in the local oases, with excursions, workshops on bees and wildlife; and Romagna tradition, from the dialect to typical flavors like strozzapreti prepared with local chefs.
"Di storia in storia" is above all a community project: schools, volunteer associations, merchants, and cultural realities of Bagnacavallo and Bassa Romagna make it possible. Events such as the "Città dei bambini" (Children's City), the urban picnic, and the final collective dinner emphasize the participatory and inclusive nature of the event, where families and residents share spaces and free time.
Participation in the initiatives is free: only some workshops, particularly cooking and manual activities, and those with limited capacity, require booking. An event that, in the Emilia-Romagna calendar, has carved out a precious space among events dedicated to childhood, capable of combining fun, environmental education, and rediscovery of local traditions.
The 2026 edition of the festival combined two successful past experiences, "Città dei bambini" and "Verde brillante", into a single large program of events specifically designed for children. Four days spread across Piazza della Libertà, Parco Montessori, Podere Pantaleone, Biblioteca Taroni, Centro sociale Abbondanza, and Piazza Nuova animated Bagnacavallo with games, nature, shows, and workshops.
Initiatives take place in various locations in Bagnacavallo (RA): Piazza della Libertà, Piazza Nuova, Parco Montessori, Podere Pantaleone, Biblioteca Taroni, Centro sociale Abbondanza, and other spaces in the center and the surrounding area.
By car: Bagnacavallo can be reached from the A14 bis (Lugo/Cotignola exit) or the SS16 Adriatica. By train: Bagnacavallo station is on the Ravenna–Castel Bolognese line. The nearest airport is Bologna (Marconi), about an hour's drive away.
Participation is free. Some workshops (cooking, manual activities, and limited capacity activities) require booking: tel. +39 339 4359583 (Margherita) – +39 349 6395381 (Valentina). Info and program at bagnacavallocultura.it.
