The great summer festival in Passo Corese featuring fried pizza, arrosticini, and live music
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Fried Pizza and Arrosticini Festival is one of the most deep-rooted summer events in Passo Corese, the populous district of the Municipality of Fara in Sabina, in the province of Rieti, Lazio. Every year, between the end of July and the beginning of August, the central Piazza Salvo d'Acquisto transforms into a large festival space where aromas, flavors, and music enliven the evenings for several consecutive days. The event is organized by the Associazione Culturale Forever, which has been managing the festival for over a decade, turning it into a reference point for the inhabitants of the lower Sabina and the many visitors arriving from neighboring towns and the metropolitan area of Rome.
The heart of the festival is, naturally, gastronomic. The two specialties that give the event its name tell the story of a meeting between two traditions: fried pizza, golden and fragrant, from the popular cuisine of central-southern Italy, and arrosticini, the sheep meat skewers grilled over charcoal typical of Abruzzo and now beloved in Sabina as well. Around these two signature dishes, the stalls offer other local specialties, desserts, beer, and wine, in a menu designed to accompany long evenings outdoors.
The Fried Pizza and Arrosticini Festival is not just about good food. Each evening features live music, with ballroom orchestras, bands, and concerts, alternating with cabaret shows, folk performances, and entertainment. Recent editions have included amateur talent shows, spaces dedicated to children with games and activities, and local craft markets. The festival maintains the genuine spirit of a village fair, where families meet after sunset and the square becomes the open-air living room of the entire community.
Included in the rich calendar of summer festivals in the province of Rieti, the event perfectly represents the convivial identity of Sabina, a land of olive oil, genuine products, and popular celebrations. Passo Corese, thanks to its location just a few kilometers from the border with the Roman area, is easily accessible and welcomes a large audience every year. Admission is free and the atmosphere is that simple and welcoming vibe of great summer community celebrations.
The official dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced by the Associazione Culturale Forever.
