Street food comes to the village

The Filacciano Street Food Festival is one of the most vibrant and youthful gastronomic events in the municipality of Filacciano, a small town in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in the Lazio region. Recently established by the local administration and local associations, the event has quickly found its audience: a September weekend where the village streets fill with food trucks, outdoor dining tables, and music, all with free entry and the informal vibe typical of street food culture.

Where it takes place

Filacciano is located in the middle Tiber Valley, just over forty kilometers from Rome, in a hilly area overlooking the river and surrounded by olive groves. The village has only a few hundred inhabitants and is dominated by the Palazzo Baronale del Drago, which defines its skyline. It is this intimate scale that makes the festival so special: the stands are set up in open spaces and along the streets of the center, and in just a few minutes of walking, you can move from one truck to another without ever losing sight of the valley view.

The 2025 edition featured operators such as Fritto a gogo, Sande food truck, Barrique Capodimonte, and Osteria Vagante, with offerings ranging from traditional fried foods to meat sandwiches, and from classic Lazio cuisine to specialties from other Italian regions. Alongside the food, there is a dedicated beverage section featuring craft beers and local wines.

The typical format for this type of event includes:

• regional specialties brought by guest trucks;
• craft beer and a selection of wines from the Tiber Valley;

Music and atmosphere

The festival is not just about gastronomy: the evenings are accompanied by live music and entertainment, with bands and DJ sets enlivening the central area until late. The atmosphere is that of a village fair, with shared tables and a crowd that mixes residents, families from neighboring towns — Ponzano Romano, Nazzano, Torrita Tiberina, Sant'Oreste — and visitors arriving from Rome for a late-summer day trip.

A growing event

With its second edition, held on September 12 and 13, 2025, the event has established itself in the September calendar of the Roman province, joining the town's other major event, the historic Sagra delle Fave e del Pecorino (Fava Bean and Pecorino Festival), which is held on May 1st and has already surpassed forty editions. Together, the two events perfectly capture the gastronomic identity of Filacciano: on one hand, the rural tradition of the Tiberine Sabina, and on the other, the contemporary influence of street food.
