A festival of folk and world music in the Nebrodi Mountains
The Frazzanò Folk Fest is one of the most evocative highlights of the Sicilian summer, dedicated to the ethnic and folk music of Sicily, Southern Italy, and the entire Mediterranean basin. It takes place in Frazzanò, a small town in the province of Messina nestled in the Nebrodi Mountains, where the village transforms for a few days into a vibrant open-air stage, welcoming music lovers and curious travelers from all over the region.
The festival's hallmark is connection: each edition brings Sicilian tradition into dialogue with musical roots from around the world, from Africa and the Maghreb to tango and Mediterranean melodies. The event celebrates diversity as a resource and folk music as a universal language capable of uniting different generations and cultures. The stage hosts both renowned names in Italian world music and emerging projects that rediscover the oral and instrumental heritage of the South.
The heart of the event is Piazza Regina Adelasia, in the town center, where the evening concerts are held. Other performances take place within the walls of the San Filippo di Fragalà Monastery, a medieval Basilian abbey and one of Sicily's most significant historical sites, providing a monumental and serene setting perfect for more intimate, contemplative concerts.
Organized by the Municipality of Frazzanò in collaboration with the Union of Nebrodi Municipalities, the Frazzanò Folk Fest is also an opportunity to discover an authentic territory far from mass tourism: the Nebrodi Park, its charming villages, its gastronomy, and its traditions. Artistic director Luca Li Voti describes the festival as "a journey into the soul of peoples, a bridge between cultures and humanity."
The 2026 edition of the Frazzanò Folk Fest is confirmed for July 17-19, 2026, in Frazzanò, in the province of Messina. As every year, the concerts will take place between Piazza Regina Adelasia and the San Filippo di Fragalà Monastery, with free admission.
The event, organized by the Municipality of Frazzanò and the Union of Nebrodi Municipalities under the artistic direction of Luca Li Voti, will once again offer a journey through Mediterranean folk music, blending Sicilian tradition with global influences.
