The town turns pink for the Giro d'Italia
Frattaminore in Rosa is the civic and commemorative event through which the Municipality of Frattaminore, located in the heart of the Agro Atellano in the province of Naples, celebrates the passage of the Giro d'Italia along its streets. Born during the 2025 Naples stage and returning with the Corsa Rosa's comeback to Campania, the day turns the town into a large open-air display where sport, public art, and community spirit intertwine along the race route.
The creative heart of the event lies with local schools, which paint streets, courtyards, and facades pink. The Novio Atellano school colors its barriers pink and has created a mural dedicated to the Giro, painted by children, parents, and staff. The Colombo school greets the riders with an urban sculpture placed on its roof and a symbolic line of jerseys displayed along the route. It is a collective effort that engages younger generations and offers the race a welcome made of hands and colors.
Among the most curated initiatives is the philatelic cancellation promoted by the Municipality: in Piazza San Maurizio, Poste Italiane sets up a temporary service where, throughout the afternoon, it is possible to obtain a special stamp on a dedicated postcard, depicting an ancient map of the city crossed by a pink line tracing the official Giro route. A collector's souvenir designed to capture the day in time.
More than just a point on the map, Frattaminore in Rosa is a way to bring the entire citizenry—schools, families, associations, and merchants—together around a major national sporting event. The event highlights the identity of the town in the area north of Naples, attracting cycling enthusiasts and curious onlookers to its decorated streets. Free and open to everyone, it combines a passion for the Giro d'Italia with community creativity, making it one of the most well-attended days on the local Campania calendar.
On Thursday, May 14, 2026, the 109th Giro d'Italia passed through Frattaminore during the sixth stage, Paestum-Naples, with the caravan expected in the province of Naples in the early afternoon before arriving in the regional capital. The Municipality of Frattaminore once again hosted Frattaminore in Rosa, enlivening the town streets with displays created by schools and the community.
The activities that made the event famous were confirmed: murals and barriers painted pink by the Novio Atellano school, the urban sculpture and the line of jerseys from the Colombo school, the skies of pink ribbons along the streets, and the special philatelic cancellation in Piazza San Maurizio, featuring a postcard depicting an ancient map of the city crossed by the pink line of the route.
Frattaminore is located in the province of Naples, in the area north of the regional capital. By car, it can be reached via the Asse Mediano and the SS7 bis; by train, the reference station is Frattamaggiore-Grumo Nevano on the Naples-Aversa line, followed by a short bus or taxi ride.
The event takes place along the city streets and is free to attend. On the day of the Giro's passage, some streets will be closed to traffic, and changes to local transport or school closures may occur: it is recommended to check the official notices from the Municipality of Frattaminore and their official social media channels.
