Ten days of flavor, tradition, and devotion in the village of Cascia, featuring fresh porcini mushrooms and the historic St. Peter's Feast.
The Porcini Mushroom Festival and St. Peter's Feast in Cascia is one of the most deeply rooted events in the Reggello area and the entire Valdarno region. It takes place in Cascia, a small village in the Municipality of Reggello, in the province of Florence, in the heart of Tuscany. Reaching its 53rd edition in 2026, the festival is steeped in a popular tradition that has drawn visitors from across the region for over half a century, weaving together a gastronomic passion for porcini mushrooms with devotion to the patron saint.
The absolute star is His Majesty the Porcini Mushroom, served strictly fresh at the food stalls set up in the square. The specialties that enliven the evenings include porcini mushroom soup, veal scallopini with porcini, and many other Tuscan dishes prepared with this prized ingredient. The stalls are open every evening for dinner and also for lunch on Sundays, offering guests the genuine flavors of the Valdarno and the surrounding Apennine territory, rich in chestnut and oak forests where porcini grow in abundance.
The 2026 edition takes place from June 19th to 28th in the square facing the parish church of San Pietro. The calendar alternates between festive moments, live music, and events for all ages:
Alongside the food and music, the festival maintains its community spirit with challenges and games between the neighborhoods of Cascia and the traditional St. Peter's Palio, which sees the town's districts compete. The religious dimension remains central: the feast is dedicated to Saint Peter, celebrated on June 29th, with masses and the patronal procession departing from the ancient parish church. The Fierone, a large market accompanying the festivities, is also a staple.
Between popular devotion, forest flavors, and community spirit, the Cascia Porcini Mushroom Festival is an authentic opportunity to discover the soul of the Reggello Valdarno. Admission to the event is free, and the festival is organized by the Pro Loco Reggello and Cascia together with the St. Peter's Festival Committee, reflecting the village's deep bond with its roots.
The 2026 edition of the Porcini Mushroom Festival and St. Peter's Feast returns to Cascia, a village in Reggello, from June 19th to 28th. Every evening, the food stalls offer specialties based on fresh porcini mushrooms, from soup to scallopini, with lunch service also available on Sunday.
Musical highlights include the evening with Alessandro Paci (Friday, June 26th) and the concert by the 883 Mania Tribute Band (Saturday, June 27th). On Sunday, June 28th, the program concludes with a prize raffle and fireworks. Throughout the event: cabaret, markets, foam parties, activities for children, neighborhood challenges, and the St. Peter's Palio, along with processions and masses in honor of the patron saint.
