Wednesday evening summer series at the Archeoparc in Villandro
The Flonderer Long Mittig is one of the most beloved summer traditions in Villandro/Villanders, a mountain village in the Isarco Valley, located in the province of Bolzano/Bozen, in the heart of South Tyrol. The name comes from the local dialect and means "Long Wednesday" (Lange Mittwoch): for five consecutive weeks, the village gathers every Wednesday evening for a festive event that blends music, gastronomy, and community spirit.
The unique charm of the Flonderer Long Mittig lies in its collaborative spirit: every evening is organized by a different local association, which manages the entertainment, drinks, and snacks. As a result, the atmosphere, cuisine, and musical offerings change from week to week, showcasing the many groups that drive the life of Villandro. It is an authentic way to get to know the local community and its traditions.
The evenings take place in the Archeoparc of Villandro, an archaeological park located at the Plunacker site, where excavations have unearthed settlements documenting over seven thousand years of history, from the Stone Age to the Roman era. In case of bad weather, the event moves to the covered structure at the festival grounds. Celebrating in this location, among reconstructions of prehistoric dwellings and one of the oldest inhabited sites in the Alps, makes the evening even more atmospheric.
The program for each Wednesday features live music, moments of South Tyrolean folklore, and local culinary specialties prepared by the associations. Participating groups include youth bands, choirs, and traditional local clubs, all of which transform the Archeoparc area into a lively evening meeting point from 7:00 PM until midnight.
The Flonderer Long Mittig is free to attend and suitable for the whole family: an ideal opportunity to discover the hospitality of Villandro and the atmosphere of a South Tyrolean summer, surrounded by the scents of local cuisine and traditional sounds. The series is part of the events promoted by the Tourist Association of Chiusa, Barbiano, Velturno, and Villandro.
The Flonderer Long Mittig 2026 consists of five Wednesday evenings, from June 24 to July 22, starting at 7:00 PM at the Archeoparc in Villandro. As per tradition, each evening is entrusted to a different local association, ensuring a fresh musical and gastronomic experience every week. Admission is free.
All evenings run from 7:00 PM until late, at the Archeoparc area (covered structure available in case of bad weather).
Villandro/Villanders can be reached from the SS12 state road at Chiusa/Klausen, by taking the provincial road that climbs toward the village. Alternatively, bus line 345 runs from Chiusa to Villandro. The nearest train station is in Chiusa, on the Brenner line.
