In Termoli (Province of Campobasso), the Fish Festival is much more than a gastronomic feast: it is the collective ritual that closes the summer season. It takes place at the Tourist Port square and smells of the sea and fried fish, with Adriatic fish cooked by volunteers and served to thousands of people over two evenings.
Fried 'paranza' fish and maritime tradition
The heart of the festival is the fried 'paranza' fish — red mullet, squid, hake — a symbol of Termoli's seafood cuisine. Alongside the fried fish, traditional dishes such as fusilli with cuttlefish sauce and 'sciscillo' meatballs are offered, in a menu that tells the story of a fishing town's identity.
Music, DJ sets, and fireworks over the sea
The evenings are enlivened by live music, pizzica folk music, and DJ sets, culminating in the grand finale with fireworks over the Tourist Port, illuminating the sea and bidding farewell to summer. The event is organized by the Municipality of Termoli with local associations, in a collaboration that has kept one of the town's most beloved traditions alive for decades.

The Fish Festival returns to the Tourist Port square in Termoli on August 23 and 24, 2026, organized by the Municipality with local associations. It kicks off on Friday, August 23 with the 'Presagra' starting at 6:00 PM and a tasting menu, accompanied by a DJ set from Alex Latino. Saturday, August 24 is the main festival day, featuring fried 'paranza' fish, live music, pizzica folk music, and a DJ set, concluding with midnight fireworks over the Tourist Port.
