The fishermen's festival in the small village of Deutschnonsberg, South Tyrol
The Fischerfest, or Fishermen's Festival, is one of the most cherished events in the calendar of Lauregno/Laurein, a small mountain municipality in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, in South Tyrol. The festival takes place outdoors, transforming the village center for a day into a cheerful meeting point where fishing traditions blend with the typical conviviality of South Tyrolean alpine communities.
Lauregno/Laurein is one of the three German-speaking municipalities of the Upper Non Valley, an area known as Deutschnonsberg, nestled on the sunny slopes overlooking the valley. Surrounded by forests, meadows, and orchards, the village retains an authentic character and a strong sense of community. Events like the Fischerfest are the perfect occasion for the entire village to gather, and for guests to get a close-up look at the daily life and traditions of this corner of South Tyrol.
The heart of the festival is the cuisine: the star is naturally fish, prepared according to local recipes, accompanied by typical South Tyrolean traditional dishes and a wide selection of drinks. Long outdoor tables invite you to stay for lunch and spend the entire afternoon in good company, chatting, listening to music, and enjoying the typical community spirit that characterizes village festivals in the Deutschnonsberg.
The Fischerfest is a family-friendly and free event, open to residents and visitors. It is the ideal opportunity to discover Lauregno/Laurein and the Upper Non Valley away from the most crowded tourist circuits, immersed in an unspoiled alpine landscape and the genuine hospitality of the mountain people.
