The historic agricultural fair of Oggiono, established in 1614
The Fiera di Sant'Andrea in Oggiono, in the province of Lecco, is one of the oldest events in the area: known in dialect as Ul Ferôn dé Ugiôn (the Fierone), it was established in 1614 by edict of the Spanish governor Philip III. Over four centuries of history make it one of the longest-running fairs in Italy and, still today, one of the main livestock fairs in Lombardy.
For days, Oggiono transforms: hundreds of stalls line Viale Vittoria, while the exhibition of livestock and agricultural machinery attracts breeders and curious visitors from all over Brianza. The fair firmly maintains its rural vocation, with farm animals, horses, and donkeys among the most popular attractions, in an event that tells the ancient bond between the town and the agricultural world.
The culinary heart of the event is the tripe, prepared in large quantities by volunteers according to the traditional recipe: a symbolic dish that has accompanied the Fierone for generations. Together with the food stands and collateral initiatives, it makes the Fiera di Sant'Andrea much more than a market: a community celebration that attracts thousands of visitors to Oggiono every autumn.
On October 25 and 26, 2026, Oggiono will revive the historic Fiera di Sant'Andrea, the Fierone, now in its 411th edition since its establishment in 1614. Along Viale Vittoria, hundreds of stalls will return, along with the exhibition of livestock and agricultural machinery, and attractions related to the rural world, including horses and donkeys.
The tripe prepared by volunteers according to the traditional recipe is a must. The detailed program, including opening days and collateral initiatives, will be released by the Municipality and the Pro Loco of Oggiono in the weeks prior.
