The festival of the Orobic goat and goat cheese in the Larian Triangle
The Fiera delle Capre e del Caprino is the signature event of Caslino d'Erba, a small municipality in the Triangolo Lariano (Larian Triangle), in the Province of Como, nestled among the hills separating the two branches of Lake Como. Every year in September, for over twenty-five editions, the village transforms into a grand showcase of goat culture and its products, attracting breeders, curious visitors, and gourmets โ around five thousand visitors in its most successful editions.
The absolute star is the goat, with an exhibition of the main Lombard goat breeds, particularly the capra orobica (Orobic goat), a native breed from the valleys. Alongside the animals, the true treasure of the fair is Caslino's goat cheese, which can be tasted and purchased along with other typical local products. The event aims to promote the native breed and the gastronomic specialities linked to its tradition.
The day is not just about goats and cheeses: along the village streets, there are stalls selling crafts, typical products, and food stands, while music and entertainment accompany visitors. In recent editions, the fair has also included initiatives linked to Slow Food and discussions on the rural culture of the Larian Triangle.
More than just a market exhibition, the Fiera delle Capre has become a symbol of Caslino d'Erba and an opportunity to rediscover the deep connection between the village, its mountains, and pastoralism. Organized with the support of the Pro Loco (local tourist board) and the Municipality, it continues to attract thousands of people every September, confirming itself as one of the most beloved autumn events in the Como area.
The 2026 edition, the 27th, renews the appointment in Caslino d'Erba with the Fiera delle Capre e del Caprino. The day, traditionally in September, focuses on the exhibition of Lombard goat breeds and the Orobic goat, tasting of Caslino's goat cheese, stalls of crafts and typical products, accompanied by music and entertainment.
The definitive date and detailed program for 2026 will be published by the Pro Loco and the Municipality of Caslino d'Erba in the weeks preceding the event. Based on recent editions, the day typically includes:
