Chestnuts, theatre, and music in the village of Campsirago
The Festa della Burolla is held in Campsirago, a hamlet of the municipality of Colle Brianza in the province of Lecco, perched at almost 700 metres above sea level on Monte di Brianza. Burolla, in the Lecco dialect, means chestnut: a fruit that for centuries was the staple food for mountain families, transformed into flour and bread. The festival, reaching its 20th edition in 2025, celebrates this tradition.
Campsirago is a unique village: it cannot be accessed by car. You can reach it by walking along a scenic path or by using the free shuttle service, available in two time slots from Colle Brianza and Santa Maria Hoè. This choice, along with the use of biodegradable tableware and separate waste collection, makes the event completely eco-sustainable.
From 10:00 AM, the village comes alive with art exhibitions, workshops for children, popular theatre and circus performances, concerts (from Irish folk to rock), and a market of local producers and artisans along Via San Bernardo. Throughout the day, roasted chestnuts and mulled wine are the stars, accompanied by a zero-kilometre catering service.
The festival is organised by the Associazione Sburollati together with Campsirago Residenza - a historic theatre and art organisation in Colle Brianza - with the support of the Municipality and various local associations. More than just a simple sagra (food festival), it is an event that combines gastronomy, live culture, and sustainability, in one of the most picturesque locations in the Lecco Brianza region.
After reaching twenty editions in 2025, the Festa della Burolla returns to Campsirago in 2026, organised by the Associazione Sburollati and Campsirago Residenza. The event, traditionally held in October, confirms its formula: a day of chestnuts, mulled wine, and zero-kilometre catering accompanied by theatre and circus performances, concerts, workshops for children, and a craft market, all in an eco-sustainable spirit and accessible on foot or via free shuttle.
The detailed programme for the 2026 edition, with times and show names, will be published by Campsirago Residenza in the weeks preceding the festival. The typical structure of the day includes:
Dates, times, and access (free shuttle from Colle Brianza and Santa Maria Hoè) on the official channels.
