About Sagra de Pescarenech

In the Pescarenico district – the ancient fishermen's village made famous by Manzoni in 'The Betrothed' – the Sagra de Pescarenech comes alive every summer, one of Lecco's most cherished neighbourhood festivals. At the district's oratory, for several evenings, people eat, play, and celebrate: traditional cuisine, from pizzoccheri to polenta taragna, green volley tournaments between the contrade (districts) to win the Palio, music, and community gatherings. An authentic sagra, telling the popular soul and the bond with the Adda river of one of the most characteristic districts of the Larian city.

The Pescarenico Festival

The Sagra de Pescarenech is the summer festival of the Pescarenico district, Lecco's historic fishermen's village on the Adda river, at the outlet of Lake Como. It is a place steeped in literary memory: Alessandro Manzoni set pages of 'The Betrothed' here, and the district still retains the charm of an ancient lakeside village.

Cuisine and Tradition

The sagra takes place at the district's oratory, with entrances from Corso Carlo Alberto and Via Guado, and opens every evening from 7:00 PM with a bar and kitchen. Traditional Lombard and Valtellina dishes are served: pizzoccheri, polenta taragna, sandwiches with salamella, and even Spanish paella. Genuine and abundant cuisine, in the convivial atmosphere typical of oratory festivals.

The Palio delle Contrade

The light-hearted heart of the sagra is the competition between the district's contrade — Biun, Cuccagna, Cunvent, Era, Fussaa, Isula, Piscen, S. Ambros, and Stradun — who compete for the Palio in mixed green volley tournaments. It's a way to keep the neighbourhood's identity alive and to involve young and old in a competition that is as fierce as it is friendly.

A District That Celebrates

With food, sports, music, and socialising, the Sagra de Pescarenech is much more than a gastronomic festival: it's an opportunity to experience one of Lecco's most characteristic districts and rediscover its roots. An authentic event, far from large-scale happenings, that showcases the most popular and community-oriented face of the city of Lecco, in the Province of Lecco.
