Latisana's ancient autumn fair
With the first chills and the new wine ready, Latisana celebrates one of the oldest events in its calendar: the Fiera di San Martino. Born as a livestock market tied to agricultural traditions and the figure of Saint Martin, it has over time transformed into a large city festival that attracts visitors from all over the Bassa Friulana and eastern Veneto.
For several days, the center of Latisana comes alive with the funfair, stalls selling sweets, fritters, and bruscolini, craft and hobby stands, commercial stalls, and traditional charity fishing games. It is the autumn fair par excellence, capable of combining commerce, entertainment, and social life in a popular and family-friendly atmosphere.
The culinary heart of the event is the Festa della zucca e del vin novello (Pumpkin and New Wine Festival), in Piazza Indipendenza: here, peasant cuisine dishes based on pumpkin meet chestnuts, mulled wine, and Doc wines from the cellars of Friuli Latisana. One of the most curious attractions is the exhibition of the largest pumpkins in the area, the result of the passion of local farmers.
Every year, children from Latisana's schools create drawings dedicated to the meaning of San Martino: the winning artwork becomes the official poster for the following year's fair. A beautiful sign of continuity between generations, in an event organized by the municipal administration together with Pro Latisana.
The 2026 edition of the Fiera di San Martino takes place from November 5th to 11th in the center of Latisana. Seven days of celebration with the funfair, stalls, crafts, and autumn gastronomy, culminating in the Pumpkin and New Wine Festival in Piazza Indipendenza.
The detailed program with event times will be published on Pro Latisana's channels in the weeks prior.
Latisana is accessible via the A4 motorway (Latisana exit), the SS14 state road, and by train (station on the Venice-Trieste line). The fair takes place in the city center and in Piazza Indipendenza.
Free entry to the fair; funfair attractions and food/drinks are paid.
The fair is held in November, around the feast day of San Martino (November 11th).
