Over 600 years of history, featuring a market, funfair, and the famous Funeral Song Festival
Some events span centuries, and the Fiera dei Santi in Rivignano Teor, in the lower Friulian plain in the province of Udine, is one of them. With over 600 years of history, it is one of the oldest fairs in Friuli Venezia Giulia: even Ippolito Nievo wrote about it, having attended it in the 19th century. Even today, between late October and the first days of November, it draws over one hundred thousand visitors, transforming the town into the beating heart of the Friulian autumn.
For four days, Rivignano is filled with stalls: the large market fair, the antique market, food and wine stands with the flavors of the lower Friulian region, and the unmissable funfair with its rides. There are also historical reenactments, sporting and cultural events, shows for children, and concerts that liven up the evenings, in a program involving over thirty local associations coordinated by the Pro Loco.
The most famous and unusual event is undoubtedly the World Funeral Song Festival, held on November 2nd. Born in a light-hearted spirit, it features competing artists presenting original songs that tackle the theme of death with irony and originality: a witty and distinctly Friulian way to exorcise, with a smile, All Souls' Day. A unique formula in the world that has made the fair famous far beyond regional borders.
Organized by the Pro Loco of Rivignano with the Municipality of Rivignano Teor, the Fiera dei Santi knows how to renew itself without betraying its soul: alongside the oldest traditions, there are costume contests, comedy shows, and modern social media communication. The result is a festival that unites generations and has remained, for centuries, the identity event of the entire community.
In 2026, Rivignano will once again prepare to welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors for its historic Fiera dei Santi. The four-day format is confirmed, featuring the large market fair, the funfair, historical reenactments, shows, and the unmissable World Funeral Song Festival on November 2nd. The precise dates, traditionally around October 31st and November 2nd, will be confirmed by the Pro Loco.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be published by the Pro Loco of Rivignano. Based on recent editions, the structure includes:
