The summer festival of the volunteer fire brigade in the hamlet of Tall, Schenna
The Feuerwehrfest Tall/Schenna is the summer festival organized by the Freiwillige Feuerwehr Tall (FF Tall), the volunteer fire brigade of the small hamlet of Tall (Talle), located above Schenna in the municipality of Schenna in the province of Bolzano, in the Merano region. As in many South Tyrolean communities, the firefighters' festival is not just a moment of fun: it is an occasion for the entire village to rally around its volunteers, thanking them for their service throughout the year and supporting their activities by participating in the festival.
The event takes place over the weekend at the Feuerwehrhalle Tall, the fire station in Obertall, nestled in the landscape of meadows and orchards typical of the Schenna plateau. The program alternates between musical and social moments: Saturday evening kicks off with the lively atmosphere of Bohemian brass music (böhmische Musik) followed by concerts from Tyrolean folk groups, while Sunday is dedicated to the traditional Frühschoppen, the long midday aperitif accompanied by a brass band, which is beloved throughout South Tyrol.
There is no shortage of gastronomy, prepared by the firefighters themselves and the local volunteers: South Tyrolean specialties from the Merano area, grilled meats, homemade desserts, and draft beer mark the two days. Children and families will find space in a festive and informal atmosphere, typical of South Tyrolean village festivals.
The Feuerwehrfest in Tall is part of the rich calendar of summer festivals in the municipality of Schenna and the Trentino-South Tyrol region, where each hamlet takes turns celebrating its own volunteer fire brigade.
The Feuerwehrfest Tall/Schenna 2026 is held on the weekend of July 25 and 26 at the Feuerwehrhalle in Obertall, in the municipality of Schenna. The festival opens on Saturday evening from 7:00 PM with the Bohemian brass music of the Vernuerer Böhmische group, followed at 9:00 PM by a concert by the Tiroler Buam. On Sunday, starting at 11:00 AM, the traditional Frühschoppen is enlivened by the group Die 2 Verschärft'n. Throughout the event, the volunteer firefighters will run the food stand with South Tyrolean specialties.
The festival is held at the Feuerwehrhalle Tall in Obertall, a hamlet of Tall, in the municipality of Schenna (BZ). From Merano, you can reach Schenna by car in a few minutes; the hamlet of Tall is located on the plateau above the village. Local bus connections are available in summer.
