About Gallo d'Oro
A singing competition that has lasted for over half a century
The Festival Gallo d'Oro is one of the most deeply rooted musical events in the Province of Pesaro and Urbino. Born in 1966, it is an award reserved for new and emerging voices, faces, and talents: every summer it transforms Gallo di Petriano, a hamlet in the Municipality of Petriano in the Marche region, into a small stage where singers from all backgrounds test themselves before the public and a qualified jury. With its 54th edition, the festival confirms a rare continuity in the Italian singing competition scene.
How the competition works
Participants perform live with original songs or covers, accompanied by the festival's musical direction. The selection process involves a phase of auditions held a few weeks before the final evenings. Singers aged 14 and over compete, evaluated by a jury composed of music and entertainment professionals. The best compete for the title and special prizes, historically including the award for the best original song.
The Galletto d'Oro for the youngest
Alongside the main competition, the festival dedicates an evening to the very young with the Galletto d'Oro, aimed at children and teenagers aged 5 to 13. It is a highly anticipated event for local families, designed to introduce the youngest to the stage and music in a festive atmosphere.

The historic singing competition of Gallo di Petriano returns in 2026 with its 54th edition, scheduled from July 23rd to 26th. The Pro Loco Petriano confirms the established format that has drawn new and emerging voices to Piazza Cavour for decades, evaluated by a jury of music and entertainment professionals.

Thursday, July 23 – Saturday, July 26, 2026
The festival evenings take place in Piazza Cavour, in Gallo di Petriano, generally starting at 9:00 PM with free admission.
- Friday, July 24th — 4th Galletto d'Oro: singing evening dedicated to children and teenagers aged 5 to 13.
- Saturday, July 25th — Final evening of the main singing competition: the competing singers perform live with original songs and covers before the jury.
