Ten days dedicated to nature and ecosystems, at Parco Nord Milano
The Festival della Biodiversità is an environmental and scientific outreach event held at Parco Nord Milano, the large park located north of the city between Milan and Sesto San Giovanni. In Milan, the festival also involves the OrtoComune Niguarda, in Municipality 9. It is one of the leading events in Italy on the theme of biodiversity, capable of combining scientific rigor and public participation.
The 2026 edition marks an important milestone, the twentieth, and carries the title Living Tapestries: biodiversity told as an interweaving of relationships that span species, ecosystems, cultures, economies, and human communities. An idea of nature as a network of connections, where every element is linked to others.
For ten days, the festival offers meetings with scientists, artists, and communicators, workshops for children and families, theatre and music performances, nature walks, cinema, installations, and participatory activities. The main venue is Cascina Centro Parco, in Sesto San Giovanni, alongside OrtoComune Niguarda in Milan. The festival benefits from the collaboration of entities such as the Asinara National Park, the Civic Museum of Natural History of Milan, MM S.p.A., universities, and cultural organizations.
The festival's objective is to raise awareness of biodiversity to learn how to protect it, showing how much the health of ecosystems is linked to ours. In a densely urbanized metropolitan area like Milan's, Parco Nord represents a precious green lung, and the festival is an opportunity to rediscover and experience it. Admission is free, confirming the event's popular and inclusive vocation.
