The symbolic dish of Macerata tradition celebrates in San Ginesio
In San Ginesio, a splendid medieval village in the Province of Macerata overlooking the Sibillini Mountains and listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, the Festival dei Vincisgrassi takes place every autumn. This food and wine event is dedicated to the signature first course of Marche cuisine. Founded in 2023, the event has quickly become a highly anticipated appointment for food lovers and those curious about local traditions, attracting visitors from across the region and beyond.
Vincisgrassi is a sumptuous baked pasta dish made with egg pasta sheets, a rich meat ragรน, bรฉchamel sauce, and cheese. Its roots trace back to 18th-century recipes, with the codified version dating back to the 1920s. In 2022, Vincisgrassi alla Maceratese received the recognition of Traditional Guaranteed Specialty (STG), protecting a preparation that represents the very essence of the culinary tradition of Macerata and the entire Marche region.

The fourth edition of the Festival dei Vincisgrassi is scheduled in San Ginesio (Province of Macerata) from Friday, October 23 to Sunday, October 25, 2026. The dates are confirmed by the official 2026 events calendar of the Municipality of San Ginesio, which indicates the Sant'Agostino Monumental Complex as the main venue for the event.
Currently, the detailed program for 2026 has not yet been published. Following the pattern of previous editions, one can expect the Village of Flavors with tastings from local producers, artisan walks, urban trekking in the village, gourmet moments with guest chefs, as well as exhibitions, conferences, and activities for families. San Ginesio can be reached by car via the SS77 Val di Chienti highway, exiting towards Sarnano/San Ginesio. The historic center is about an hour from Macerata and the Adriatic coast. The nearest train station is Macerata, from which you can continue by bus or car.
