A neighbourhood festival in the heart of Tolentino

The Festa delle Grazie is one of the most cherished neighbourhood festivals in Tolentino, in the province of Macerata, in the Marche region. Every year, in mid-June, the Le Grazie district and its industrial area come alive for three evenings of conviviality organized by the Gruppo Festeggiamenti Le Grazie (Le Grazie Celebrations Group), under the patronage of the Municipality of Tolentino. The heart of the event is Piazzale G. Falcone, which for the occasion transforms into a large festival area with food stalls, a dance floor, and spaces for families.

The delicious Marche cuisine takes centre stage

As in any authentic village festival, the table is queen here. The evenings begin with typical dinners: from seafood dinners, with chitarrine pasta, steamed mussels, mixed fried fish, and seafood salad, to the great classics of Marche land cuisine, such as polenta (red with duck ragù or white with sausage and mushrooms), lamb scottadito (grilled lamb), mixed grill, porchetta (roast pork), and gnocchi alla norcina. Everything is prepared and served by neighbourhood volunteers, in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Music, dancing, and entertainment for everyone

After dinner, the party continues with live dance orchestras, which every evening get young and old onto the dance floor with classic liscio (ballroom dancing) and balera music. There are also moments dedicated to the younger generation, with afternoon games, balloons, and entertainment, exhibitions by local artists, dance and karate performances, as well as the ever-present charity raffle and wheel of fortune games. Sunday morning is dedicated to tradition, with a vintage car tour and the open-air Holy Mass, a sign of the festival's connection to the devotion to the Madonna delle Grazie.

The Festa delle Grazie is the perfect portrait of Marche social life: a simple and genuine event, born from the initiative of the neighbourhood's residents and grown over time to become an eagerly awaited appointment at the start of summer in Tolentino.
