Festambiente, the Legambiente eco-festival in the Maremma

Founded in the late 1980s, Festambiente is the longest-running national festival dedicated to ecology, peace, and solidarity, promoted by Legambiente. It takes place every summer in Rispescia, a village in the municipality of Grosseto, in the picturesque E.N.A.O.L.I. area at the entrance to the Maremma Regional Park, in the heart of Tuscany. For five days, the ecological citadel becomes a vast laboratory of ideas and best practices, blending quality entertainment with reflection on major environmental issues.

A multidisciplinary program

Festambiente weaves together different genres and languages: free concerts every evening featuring Italian artists, debates and meetings with experts and leading environmentalists, exhibitions, theater, cabaret, and the Clorofilla Film Festival, a film showcase dedicated to green themes. Great attention is paid to families, with the Children's City and numerous environmental education workshops for the younger generations.

Core themes

The 2026 edition revolves around a ten-point manifesto for a more sustainable and equitable territory, addressing issues such as sustainable mobility, energy transition and renewables, biodiversity protection, circular economy, agroecology, the defense of marine and river ecosystems, and sustainable tourism.

Eating well, sustainably

One of Festambiente's hallmarks is its gastronomic offering: the citadel hosts several dining areas serving healthy, organic, and short-supply-chain products, including the Vegetarian Restaurant, the Peccati di Gola restaurant, the Scienziati RistoBar, and the Mediterraneo RistoBar. This is a choice consistent with the festival's philosophy, which turns sustainability into a concrete practice rather than just a topic of debate.

Festambiente has become an iconic event for the Grosseto Maremma and all of Tuscany: it attracts thousands of visitors from across Italy every year and serves as a national showcase for the environmental association.
