Politics, music, and solidarity in Piazza Libertà

The Festa de l'Unità has returned to Campi Salentina, a town in the province of Lecce in the heart of Salento, after an absence of nearly ten years. This long-awaited comeback was made possible by the joint efforts of the Democratic Party circles of Campi Salentina, Guagnano, Novoli, Surbo, Squinzano, and Trepuzzi, bringing one of Italy's most deeply rooted political and social traditions back to the public square.
The event takes place in Piazza Libertà, which transforms into a vibrant meeting space for two evenings. The program combines moments of reflection with celebration: public debates on local, national, and international current affairs, social spaces, live music, and food stalls. It is a festival designed to speak to all generations, from families to young people, bridging civic engagement with the joy of gathering in the square.
The food and wine experience is a highlight, with food stalls dedicated to the best Salento street food: traditional dishes, local products, and authentic flavors to enjoy between a debate and a concert. Popular cuisine is an integral part of the Festa de l'Unità identity, where shared food has always been a catalyst for community bonding.
Music is at the heart of the evenings, with live performances animating the square. The festival also dedicates significant space to solidarity, with initiatives that keep the spotlight on humanitarian and social issues. The event thus reaffirms its mission: to be more than just a party event, but a moment open to the entire community of Campi Salentina and neighboring towns.
For Campi Salentina and the surrounding area, the return of the Festa de l'Unità signals a vibrant civil and associative life. In a region like Puglia, where town festivals define the summer, this event adds a unique layer dedicated to the exchange of ideas, without sacrificing the convivial atmosphere that characterizes Salento nights.
At the moment, the official dates for the 2026 edition of the Festa de l'Unità in Campi Salentina have not been communicated. In 2025, the event took place in Piazza Libertà in July, featuring debates, live music, food stalls, and solidarity initiatives. As this is an event linked to local Democratic Party circles, annual recurrence is not guaranteed: the detailed program and dates will be published by the organizers in the months leading up to the event.
The Festa de l'Unità takes place in Piazza Libertà, in the center of Campi Salentina (LE), in Puglia.

Admission to the event is free. Food stalls offer Salento street food for purchase.
