About Correre Galatina

Correre Galatina is a 10 km road race held every late November, bringing the historic center and countryside of Galatina, in the heart of the Salento region (Lecce province), to life. Organized by the A.S.D. Club Correre Galatina, this competitive event serves as the final stage of the «Running in Salento» circuit and is accompanied by a 4.5 km non-competitive fun run open to all, supporting charitable causes. At the finish line, athletes are treated to refreshments and the traditional pasticciotto pastry offered by local bakers: a beloved sporting and community event.

A race in the heart of Salento

Correre Galatina is the annual running event that draws hundreds of runners from across Puglia, Italy, and abroad to Galatina every late November. Organized by the A.S.D. Club Correre Galatina, the race has become a classic fixture on the Salento running calendar, marking a spectacular end to the road racing season in the province of Lecce.

The 10-kilometer course

The competitive race features a 10 km single-loop course starting from Piazza Alighieri in the city center. The route winds through the streets of Galatina before extending into the outskirts and the nearby village of Noha, offering athletes a scenic mix of historic urban architecture and the Salento countryside. The fast, mostly flat track is highly favored by runners aiming for personal bests at the end of the season.

The non-competitive fun run

Alongside the main race, organizers host a 4.5 km non-competitive walk, open to anyone wishing to participate without the pressure of a clock. Perfect for families and casual walkers, the event requires a waiver and a small donation for charity, reflecting the inclusive and philanthropic spirit of the festival.

The Running in Salento circuit

Correre Galatina is part of the «Running in Salento» circuit, typically serving as its grand finale, and is certified by FIDAL (Italian Athletics Federation). The race awards the final points for the circuit, attracting top amateur runners from the region as well as nationally recognized athletes.

Tradition, hospitality, and volunteerism

The event is made possible by nearly a hundred volunteers who manage the course and refreshment stations. One of the most cherished symbols of the day is the pasticciotto, the iconic Salento pastry offered at the finish line by local bakers—a gesture of hospitality that blends sport with the culinary traditions of the Municipality of Galatina and Puglia. The race is supported by local institutions and stands as a moment of celebration shared by the entire community.

Correre Galatina — edition 2026

Information will be updated as soon as it is made official by the organizers.

The sixteenth edition of Correre Galatina does not yet have an official date. Based on previous years, the 10 km road race and the 4.5 km non-competitive walk are expected to take place in late November in Galatina (Lecce).
