About Ferricello Festival

Every summer, the Pro Loco of Tramutola, in the province of Potenza, dedicates a festival to ferricello, the handmade pasta symbol of local gastronomic tradition. Between August and summer evenings, the streets of the Val d'Agri village fill with aromas, tastings, and folk music, in a celebration that honours the area's peasant pride and memory.

Ferricello, the star dish of Tramutola

In Tramutola, a village in the Val d'Agri in the province of Potenza, there is a dish that embodies the identity of the town: ferricello. It is a fresh handmade pasta, shaped around a thin knitting needle (hence the name), heir to a domestic tradition passed down through generations. The Proloco Tramutola APS wanted to dedicate a festival to it to revive its pride and make it the symbol of Tramutola's cuisine.

A celebration of flavours and community

The Ferricello Festival transforms the village centre into a large space for conviviality. The food stalls offer ferricello seasoned according to traditional Lucanian recipes, accompanied by typical local products and wines from the Val d'Agri. The festival takes place on summer evenings, usually in August, and combines tastings with folk music, dancing, and entertainment for all ages.

Tradition and territory

Beyond good food, the festival is an opportunity to promote Tramutola and the Val d'Agri, a land of waters, woods, and ancient crafts. The event, enlivened by the Pro Loco volunteers, is a much-anticipated occasion for the community and for the many people from Tramutola who return to their hometown during the summer, gathering around a dish that tastes like home.

Ferricello Festival — edition 2026

The 2026 Ferricello Festival is expected, as is tradition, on August evenings, organized by Proloco Tramutola APS, with tastings of the typical pasta, local products, and folk music. The exact date will be announced by the organizers.

In 2026, Proloco Tramutola APS will again host the Ferricello Festival on summer evenings in August, continuing the tradition of celebrating the star pasta of Tramutola's cuisine. Food stalls will offer ferricello prepared according to traditional recipes, accompanied by local products and wines from the Val d'Agri.

Programme Ferricello Festival 2026
