The Carmine Feast in Venafro
The Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is one of the most deeply rooted religious events in Venafro (province of Isernia). The celebrations revolve around July 16th, the day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, and take place at the Cathedral and the Church of Carmine of the parish of San Giovanni in Platea. The festival is preceded by a novena of preparation with the rosary and an evening mass.
Procession and Civil Evenings
The climax is the solemn procession on July 16th, with the statue of Our Lady carried through the streets of the center to the Church of Carmine, accompanied by liturgical celebrations. Alongside the religious part, the civil evenings fill the squares with concerts and entertainment during the festival days. In Venafro, the occasion is also associated with a traditional fair ('r' ì Cuarmn').
