The Music of Tradition for Saint Stephen's Day

In Venafro (province of Isernia), December 26th, Saint Stephen's Day, has for years been dedicated to the concert by the ethno-band Il Tratturo, hosted in the evocative Palazzina Liberty of the city. A now "traditional" event, it brings the authentic sounds of Molise folk music into the heart of the Christmas festivities.

Bagpipes, Shawms, and Rural Singing

Traditional instruments take turns on stage: bagpipes, shawms, accordions, and tambourines, with particular emphasis on the Molise sordellina, an ancient instrument revived by Lino Miniscalco. The group performs pieces from the album Contado, la Terra del Canto — recently reissued for its twentieth anniversary — alongside the most beloved popular classics, in a journey through the musical roots of Molise, Campania, and Puglia.

An Event of Identity for Venafro

Promoted by the Cooperativa Il Geco and the Associazione Venus Verecondia, the concert has become one of the most anticipated events of the Venafro Christmas. The Palazzina Liberty, an architectural gem of the city, provides the backdrop for an evening that combines cultured traditional music, local memory, and Christmas atmosphere.
